Jeffrey Shaw
An innovative idea, given YCCC's current travails: why not abolish it and- in its place- create South Yorkshire CCC (with equivalents for West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire? At least then we'd have some County Cricket in SY. I remember YCCC games at Bramall Lane and, thereafter, at Abbeydale. Nobody wants to trail up to Headingly. Yorkshire CCC officials have failed Yorkshire and its community. It should be disbanded before it goes bankrupt and as you say be split up so that it serves the communities of Yorkshire. Headingly does not have the "right" to be the focus of cricket: Bramall Lane 1863 to 1973 saw 393 first class games(+41 at Abbeydale). Scarborough since 1874 (ended in 2021?) and 259 games. Bradford 1881-1996 and 307 games. Leeds since 1881 and 475 games. Also over 50 matches played at each of Middlesbrough, Dewsbury, Hull, Huddersfield and Harrogate. I'm sure YCCC have done a lot more good than bad over the years and much of the current "bad" is based on the testimony of a man with a very questionable background and motives. Yorkshire CCC has failed cricket in the county as exemplified by its lack of presence in every major City and town in Yorkshire bar Leeds from Middlesbrough to Sheffield, Hull to Bradford etc. Its pursuit of money has overtaken its responsibility to develop cricket, cricketers and fans. The Leeds club has a monopoly on first class cricket in Yorkshire, enforced by the ECB, thereby making it impossible for anybody else to enjoy 1st class cricket. People have wanted to change Yorkshire cricket for years with nothing except entrenchment as a result With the current level of attention there is perhaps an opportunity to redirect the club and build back better. HeHasRisen
Utter nonsense. The club has to be located somewhere, in some instances the club isnt even contained within the county it is now named after. Does it really matter?

County boundaries, grounds, "somewhere" used to be Sheffield, attendances, versions of the game, eligibility to play, committees, chairmen, sponsors, players etc. Under the present system no first class cricket event can take place in Yorkshire anywhere except Leeds and Scarborough. A football club could grow from scratch into a Premier league team, a South Yorkshire cricket team would not be permitted to progress into the top flight. It matters because I and many others would like to watch first class cricket in our home city and former Yorkshire HQ.
