RJRB
Got an e mail this morning which looks official, asking me to set up a new DD as my old one no longer applied. I have tried to use the BTapp to check this out but unable to connect for some reason. Anybody else more knowledgable than me on this subject. I won’t be doing anything until I check it out one way or another
RollingJ
@RJRBI doubt this is a valid BT email. What comes up if you hover over the supposed sender. What email client are you using - Outlook/Thunderbird/w.h.y? Edit to Add: How does the email address you? - that will be the giveaway. iansheff
I never renew any DD online I always ring the company and do it over the phone, if it is the end of a contract I usually try to get a reduced price to the new one they sent out. RJRB
Thanks for the guidance. I am pretty sure that it is a semi convincing scam. Everything looks reasonably genuine apart from 1) The last 4 digits of the account don’t tally 2) There is a button to renew DD,but then below it says to ring a Vodaphone number as an alternative. So I would be interested if anybody else gets this e mail. I have forwarded it to the BT phishing site for their comments.
