It's been said before these are a joke.

What about our previous Prime Ministers, don't they always get an honour or are put in the House of Lords?

Yeah, I thought Rachel Reily?  She doesn't even do the words on Countdown.

Then I checked out and why she has been awarded her MBE.  It's for combating antisemitism & raising awareness of the Holocaust. She's also worked with the Centre for Countering Digital Hate to combat online abuse.

When they start handing out the gongs in the Summer, one guy I've been reading about today, definitely deserves one.  Gary McKee from Cumbria.  He's raised more than £800,000 for Mcmillan & a local hospice by running a marathon everyday since Jan 1st this year & he's just finished his last one today.  He's fitted the marathons around his normal daily life & would sometimes run a marathon before going off to work.

Someone needs to nominate him.

We’ll she hasn’t raised it enough.

Gary Mkee does deserve it but the media doesn’t follow him like the celebs.

Haven't a few of those died? Is the honour automatically returned when they die? Does that mean they can't have it engraved on their headstones?

Quite glad Grayson Perry has become a Sir, and Sir Brian May sounds about right.

I thought HM The King would be 'upgrading' and improving the national honours system, but it doesn't look likely that it will happen for a while yet.  It seems that they are still awarded to people for 'earning their living' and being nudged in the right direction!  I don't think, other than service personnel and a number of those 'ordinary citizens' that have gone over and above for their communities that there are any really deserving of these honours.

I nominated two people in my midst who had between them performed over 100 years of service (mostly voluntarily) for the benefit of our communities.  Their efforts put them in personal danger many times. Neither had been selected!  It makes you wonder doesn't it?
