Also plenty of doctors and nurses who have worked long hours through the pandemic deserve a reward. Not forgetting the care workers who go into peoples homes and work hard for very low pay. Lots of people work long hours for low pay - you can’t award everyone a knighthood.

The ship was sunk because it was a threat to British ships. No war was declared by either government.

I believe legally that makes some sort of difference, so it may be relevant. Am I right in thinking no civillians were killed in the Falklands? Whereas over 200,000 civillians were killed in Iraq. Over 100,000 were killed even after Blair left office, are Gordon Brown and David Cameron war criminals too, the deaths went on for a further 14 years. Sir Tony Blair started it off. Brown and Dodgy Dave just inherited the mess.

This Knighthood is made at the behest of the Queen not the Govt & she's not going to back down. As it's an award from the Queen, it stops MP's from struggling with their consciouses by agreeing to award a Knighthood. Plus as its standard practice to award previous PM's such honours, until Blair is given such an award, its holding up Knighthoods & a Damehood to Brown, Cameron & May. Let's also not forget that great 'Socialist', (Lady) Cherie Blair will be all for it.
