People get attached to their ideologies or belief system, theological position or whatever world view they have; attacks on which, they see at attacks on themselves. The last thing they are is open to alternatives, or self examination for fault in their own views. It’s a trait that is far more common than you might think, we all tend to think we are ‘right’.
