He was untouchable while he had the trust of politicians and royalty alike. Yep, I said that pages ago. The guy was untouchable. Never has there been such an offender with such power and influence (that we know of - makes you wonder how many others are out there in the higher echelons). Even if Starmer knew about it I bet he either knew he wouldn't get anywhere, or find himself leaned on from higher up to quietly bury it. 15 hours ago, Mister Gee said: The standard of trolling on here is very mediocre these days. SheffieldBricky
Aye aye, something fishy about this Matt Thomas on Twitter: "As part of the Leveson Enquiry, why was a letter from the notorious ex-MP Keith Vaz to the then DPP Keir Starmer been locked away from public access for 84 years? What secret did neither of them want exposed until after they were long dead? https://t.co/H7vFR2jm4x" / Twitter

Whether he should have said it in parliament is another matter. I support him in this. After a sustained attack about a birthday cake he's right to fight back. As you say, if Starmer blames Boris for something he had no control over by saying that the book stops at the top then he should expect a bit of flack back. ads36
Johnson broke the law, several times, and continues to lie about it. The case(s) against Saville were flawed from the start - before Starmer became head of the CPS. He apologised for the systemic problems he had inherited, and then fixed them. these are very different things. Thank you, it's difficult to find reasonable intelligent people on here but you qualify. Some even read the Guardian 🤣🤣

The difference is Boris could certainly have stopped the parties, and set a good example, and not then lied about it afterwards. Starmer couldn't prosecute Savile at the time as the corroborative evidence hadn't been collated and wasn't there to do so. ads36
We seem to be suggesting that ABDP Johnson, The Prime Minister, had no power to stop the parties, that happened, in his house, while he was there. and *then*, had no control over whether or not he lied about it. To be fair, he's such a habitual liar he probably didn't have much control over whether he lied or not. It can take a lot of effort to overcome ingrained behaviour.
