barleycorn
£129 per day is not a bad rate of pay! But that's only after the first 11 days, the first 11 days are barely over minimum wage. I, for one, would not be able to afford to take the cut in pay to sit on a jury. jb

That's almost the equivilent pre-tax daily rate of someone earning £17k a year. Hardly minimum wage stuff. For most people that's a lot more than they will earn normally. Nagel
£129 per day is not a bad rate of pay! There's about 230 working days in a year, so 11 days at £64.95 then 219 days at £129.91 is a yearly salary of about £29200. It's not great.
ECCOnoob
Well lucky old you. Are you taking the Michael???? Those figures are well above the National Average and a damn sight more than most people up here will get as a net annual salary. That's almost the equivillent of 35k pre-tax. Considering the option of Jury Service for most people is a once in a lifetime thing. IF they even get picked at all, for someone who clearly earns a salary as high as yours I would suggest you just get on and do your civic duty. Im sure a week or so of a trial will not break the bank.
Nagel
The average UK salary is £26500, so the payment for jury service isn't great, as I said. Consider that most people will only do a couple of weeks so they will only get the lower rate which works out at £15000 a year. It's not good.
