Ukraine: Invasion Imminent?

Recommended Posts

Russians don’t understand losing, sine the communists took over they have beaten the might of Nazi Germany, created the Soviet Union and flexed their muscles against the west at every opportunity. However things are about to change, they fooled the Russian people when the Soviet Union collapsed, who never saw this as a defeat, Putin has to all but obliterate the Ukraine in order to win this one, is the west going to let him?

In all probability... yes. It sounds harsh but this is a bit like a civil war in that its Russians fighting Russians. Even though Ukraine is independent Putin and many other Russians (mainly old religious ones) don't see it that way. Russia's neighbour Belarus is a classic example of that thinking as although they are also a sovereign nation they are as corrupt as hell and worship all that Putin does hence they are eager to support Russia.

Provided it is safe to do so why not set a few nukes off?

No need to set nukes off...

Why doesn't someone (Say USA) pay a terrorist organisation a considerable amount of Dollar's to fly a plane into the Kremlin when Mr. Putin is having a meeting...Job done.  (think 9/11)

At last made contact with relatives in Mariupol and all is O.K. They are sleeping in their car in an underground car park and coming out to shop and cook food on an open fire in the large courtyard. It is hard but they are still here.

Do you think the people are corrupt, or just the ones in charge?

I believe a lot of ordinary Russian people have been totally disillusioned since the fall of communism to see the rise of the oligarchs, corruption and malfeasance endemic at the top.

I think a lot of them want to go back to the old way of life they used to know.

Depends on the situation, human beings are selfish by nature and can be corrupted under certain circumstances
