Gales used to be a fact of life, especially on the Manor Top, so was "snow on high ground". And Dover, Rockall, Thames, Heligoland, Forties, Orkney, Shetland, Humber, Tyne, Faros, Fair Isle etc. always seemed to have their share of foul weather.
