Ukraine: Invasion Imminent?

It seems that I managed to understand Zelenski's version of it just fine:

Ukraine rules out giving Russia land in ceasefire deal:

Of course he does :)

But he's calling for a negotiated settlement.

Hint: Negotiations start with hard claims and bargaining chips, that are traded as a compromise is reached.

It's part of the game.

The first step.

"Ukraine’s president has said the war can only be resolved through diplomacy, despite the current suspension of negotiations.

“Discussions between Ukraine and Russia will undoubtedly take place,” Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an interview with a Ukrainian television channel.

“Under what format I don’t know – with intermediaries, without them, in a broader group, at the presidential level. But the war will be bloody, there will be fighting and will only definitively end through diplomacy.”

He added: “There are things that can only be reached at the negotiating table. We want everything to return [to as it was before] but Russia does not want that,” he said".

Note he said "we want" everything to return" to normal, but he did NOT say he would NOT ACCEPT any other outcome. :)

(Otherwise there's no point in negotiating)

If only Lavrov and all others would follow suit.

Has anybody heard anything of Lavrov since his statements forced Putin to very publicly apologise to Israel?

That apology to Israel was around 5 May.

Lavrov was quoted by Reuters on 17 May, Finland and Sweden’s NATO accession made no difference.

He’s still around, and still trotting out the Kremlin propaganda.

Quite a powerful statement from a diplomat I thought...

Russia is not a happy ship...

Well, that was a given…

US would defend Taiwan if attacked by China, says Joe Biden - The Guardian

"President says US’s responsibility to protect island is ‘even stronger’ after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine".

What do you think?

Would you support the U.S.?

Would you support the U.K. joining in a war against China over Taiwan?

An update.

The question I raised above, on Biden's statement yesterday, that he would intervene militarily to defend Taiwan, if attacked, was rendered moot.

His handler's have now walked back his stated position.

Wich begs the old question. Just who is running things at the White House?
