Not disagreeing with you but with respect to your first three paragraphs ? How do you know this to be true ?

I follow the news 😑

Couldn't get past thefirst one! A technicality.

"Eurobonds issued by Russia after 2018 allow under certain conditions for repayments to be made in rubles.

However, eurobonds issued before 2018 either do not contain this alternative currency clause or allow for repayments to be made only in other hard currencies."

Moody's

Moody's defines Russia's Eurobond payments in ruble instead of dollar "as default"

"Global rating agency Moody's announced that Russia has defaulted on to foreign debts worth $100 million."

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/russia-defaults-on-foreign-debts-moodys/2624350

$100 million is small change to putin. Just a bill for vodka on his yatcht.

Meanwhilee, the EU has spent €35bn on Russian energy since the war began and just €1bn on aid to Ukraine - Borrell. The EU has paid €35 billion for Russian energy since the start of the war compared to the €1 billion it has sent to Ukraine in the form of foreign aid, Josep Borrell, the EU's top diplomat, has said.Jun 4, 2022

It is to laugh!

Sure as day follows night, it’s a safe bet trastrick is having a pop at my post, like dromedary would in the Brexit consequences thread.

Let me guess: someone doesn’t understand what “sovereign default” is and means, still the same ‘Putin good’, still the same ‘EU bad’, without forgetting the obligatory ‘ye’re all armchair generals anyways’?

😁

Let me set you straight, pal. Putin is NOT good!

Putin is a Tryant. A totalitarian Tyrant, who took advantage of Obama/Biden weakness to invade the Ukraine, twice!

Tyrant's can smell fear and indecision. There's lots more in the World where he came from.

They laugh at the pathetic and ill founded logic that has one country like Ukraine carrying the hopes and dreams of Western armchair warriors, and doing the dirty work, while they are AT THE SAME TIME, sending $31,000,000,000.00 to Putin for his Fossil Fuel Oil and Gas, and staying home on their sofas, watching their proxy war on telly.

That's Thirty One Billion dollars they have paid him. and are still paying him.

I've lived through one World War and quite a few others, and this kind of so-called Western Foreign Policy can only come from someone of whom, like the respected former Defense Secretary for Bush and Obama, Robert Gates, said publicly:

"He (Joe Biden) has been wrong on nearly every major Foriegn Policy and National Security Issue over the past four decades!"

And he's not alone:

ABC News

"Former George W. Bush Deputy C hief of Staff Karl Rove in 2010: "Since his election to the U.S. Senate in the early 70s, Joe Biden has been on the wrong end of virtually every foreign policy dispute since then."

"Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer in 2012: The vice president over the last 30 years "holds the American record for [being] wrong on the most issues in foreign affairs ever. … He is the Herbert Hoover of American foreign policy."

"Marc Thiessen, speechwriter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and President Bush, in 2012: "The fact is Biden has a near-perfect record of being wrong about almost every major foreign policy question that the United States has faced in the past three decades."

"Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in 2012: "Biden has - has been consistently wrong on every national security issue that I've been involved in in the last 20 years or so."

Bloody hell there’s more armchairs and sofas on this topic than a DFS sale!

So where do you sit to cheer on the destruction, slaughter, rape, of the brave Ukranian nation?  :)
