Ukraine: Invasion Imminent?

Recommended Posts

Interesting reading up on one of the groups involved in the incursions, they are Russian Nationalists, listed as Neo Nazis and Far Right.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Volunteer_Corps

The RVC states that it is made up of ethnic Russians fighting to defend Ukraine against Russia's invasion and to overthrow the Russian regime of Vladimir Putin.[1] It says Russia's government should abandon its imperial ambitions and instead focus on improving the well-being of ethnic Russians.[7][8] The RVC believe in self-determination for Russia's various ethnic minorities and "want to see a smaller, ethnic Russian state".[5] Nikitin explained that Russian nationalism "has turned completely the wrong way" and posted a video urging white nationalists to fight Putin because Russia had turned into a police state.[1] Nikitin spoke negatively about Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy because he is Jewish and "promotes the worst of liberal values", but said that Putin is worse

so they hate Zelensky but hate Putin more lol, complicated.

Yikes.

When Putin eventually dies/vanishes/moves into The Hague/etc. Russia will tear itself apart.

Various (quite possibly nuclear armed) groups/regions will fight for control...

Exactly this was warned back in the winter by a Russian journalist.

The Russian Government has relied on mercenary groups and armed militias, this will end up costing them dearly, especially as the strength of the regular military is being sapped.

All it will take is a General or two to link up with these groups and the country is going to descent into civil war.

Given it's such a vast place, when fighting starts in one place it'll encourage others elsewhere to follow suit and grab a portion of territory for themselves

Imagine the irony if the Ukranian counterattack just charges straight for Volograd instead of looking to regain their own land.

That would be a very bad idea!  :)

Here's how World wars start.

NEWSWEEK

The Government Keeps Lying to Us About Ukraine. Where Is the Outrage?

"On June 4, a group referring to itself as the "Polish Volunteer Corps" issued a boastful announcement confirming its participation in a series of cross-border ground offensives into Russia. News of these audacious raids was jarring enough, given the many prior assurances of U.S. and Ukrainian war planners, who insisted no attacks would be carried out inside Russian territory. It was all the more conspicuous that the incursion units were apparently comprised of Polish soldiers."

On the basis of the U.S.'s repeated commitment that no NATO assets will be used on Russian Soil, we get into dangerous territory here.

If Russia deems Polish involvement in raids inside Russia, using NATO, assets it could decide to take defensive action against Poland.

Since NATO is committed to Poland's defense, it would then be naturally be obliged to retaliate against Russia.

Dangerous times!

Oh, for some real Western Leadership to sort this endless and escalating madness out!

Dangerous times indeed but remember....

Russia = Bad

Uk, US, NATO = Good

That's all you need to concern yourself with. 👍

And the report he alludes to is by Newsweek  -  an American magazine with a very colourful history which publishes once weekly and seems to go bust every handful of years.

Unlike most large American magazines, Newsweek has not used fact-checkers since 1996.

Newsweek journalists have themselves,  expressed criticism of the editorial quality of its reporting since its change in ownership in 2013.

In November 2022,  it was reported that Newsweek has "taken a marked radical right turn by buoying extremists and promoting authoritarian leaders"

People who get their news from extremist publications, especially in America,  rather than from English news outlets such as  BBC news or Sky news, etc

tend to become extremists with extremist views.  Unfortunately, we have a few on this forum with the same views on Ukraine, Coronavirus, political leaders etc.

These are indeed, dangerous times and we do need some western leadership.  Bit late though because we needed some common sense Western leadership 30 years ago.
