Maybe they're awake and not merely woke. All NATO had to do is say that Ukraine were not going to join NATO. They wouldn't, so there must have been plans. Putin doesn't want NATO missiles five minutes away from Moscow. I think the Russian fleet is in close range as well if they joined. We're just looking at it from the Russians point of view. They don't trust the West, with good reason after all the wars we've started.

Good luck with that. UK men and women shouldn't be sacrificed in the Ukraine unless they want to. I'm sure the Ukraine will take anyone willing to fight for them. If it came down to hand to hand combat our army is weakened by women on the front line and they'll all be killed pretty quickly. The Russians are extremely able.

Nonsense. Putin promised to respect Ukraine's borders in the past. He broke that promise when he annexed Crimea. Putin has now said Ukraine shouldn't exists as country separate from Russia. No amount of promises from NATO or anyone else were going to stop him from invading.

I was thinking that NATO could have said it was 'off the table' at least for now,  it would have saved lives.

Trump believes if he was still the president Russia wouldn't have invaded!

I'm wondering if our troops do end up fighting if a lot of them are going to have heart attacks.  No conspiracy theory is too extreme after the last two years. China is buzzing Taiwan again. They really are going to take it sooner or later. If they do in the near future all bets are off, we've had it. We can comfort ourselves that our fighting forces are 'diverse' though.

 

Was reading yesterday that NATO (in Europe) only has munitions for 2 weeks full conflict. The American's aren't coming they've had enough of defending Europe with little thanks and little money.
