Guest busdriver1
It is in the interest of all candidates to not make this election popular in the public domain. The more intelligent people that are aware, the more they will get challenged over their crazy claims and ambitions and basically get found out. This election to a much higher degree than most others relies on people voting the way their dad and granddad voted and not read the manifestos. Most people do not consider the individual manifestos of candidates (unfortunately)as you say they vote either as mum or dad or as they have always done regardless of the caliber of the candidate (as we saw not so long ago in Hallam with Jared )

How else are they going to connect with the people to get their message across? The more information they send out the better to make your mind up on who to vote for. Not that it's a riveting read, but it's something. We complain endlessly about Sheffield council, then make no effort to get a better one in place. RollingJ
This topic is about the 'South Yorkshire Mayoral Election' - another useless layer of bureaucracy - not Sheffield City Council, unless you haven't noticed.

They did not listen - more interested in ticking a few "diversity" boxes than the caliber of the candidate my point exactly
sheffbag
Got my leaflet in the post today. Its nice to see that the Mayor and the rest of the Village people in the (S)YMCA are supporting local business and helping the South Yorkshire economy during the election by.. Having over half a million leaflets printed by a company in West Yorkshire! Were any of the companies in SY considered? Or even the print department within the same building.............. Why don't you ask the candidate. Do we know if there was available companies to undertake such a large job within the relevant time frames? Do we know whether they were competitive in price when compared to rival printers? Is it considered more a priority for a candidate to be mindful of their expenditure balanced against picking a more expensive supplier just because they happen to be local.... Only they can really answer I guess.

Only they can really answer I guess. it wasnt a candidate. Its the leaflet from the Combined Authority itself listing all the candidates for the election. So it would be mindful for the South Yorkshire CA to promote the SY Mayoral election using a SY company wouldnt it when writing the tender docs for it. But you are right, only they could answer
