Is Uk Or England A Country?

Recommended Posts

Although there's a single country (the UK), there are various contexts in which its constituent elements are separate.

Some examples:

1. Legal systems (inc. domicile) other than for international purposes and company law: three. These are E&W, Scotland, and NI.

2. Devolution assemblies: three. These are Wales, Scotland, and NI- but not England.

3. Football (international teams): four, as football was invented here. (That's the same reason for the UK alone not needing to show the country's name on postage stamps that bear the monarch's head emblem).
