Any chance of an answer to my stunningly simple question? Didn't realise you'd asked one.

RJRB
This debate has become surreal. I thought that the main debate was the ability or inability to differentiate between news and comment on the news. Now it appears that there are those who pick up opinions from characters in Eastenders and The Archers. My suspicion is that there are those either linked to chat groups or who flit about on the internet for much of their day to appear better informed than they really are.

Pointing out why a so called impartial broadcaster is putting pro experimental vaccine propaganda on a key programme isn't a trivial matter.

It isn’t. But then again, that sort of thing happens all the time, in all sorts of media. Some people get their heads seriously turned by the rubbish that they watch and read. Now. Back to a simpler point. If we aren’t to trust the BBC, who should we trust? No embarrassing swerving this time. Give us a few examples of reliable sources of information. This thread is about the BBC and bias, it makes bold claims to be impartial saying it happens all the time is no good in the context of this thread, that's the crux of it. I don't think we can now trust anyone, you have to read from various sources and make up your own mind/experiences to discern what to believe, are you really saying you need media to tell you how to live your life/behave, how did the human race survive for the centuries it has prior to radio/tv? Are you not a little embarrassed to post stuff like this? Unless you are some kind of polymath, you can’t have the expertise to make your own mind up. You need experts, who have detailed knowledge. And good journalists to interrogate them. And we survived for centuries without radio and tv by dying young and leading difficult, often miserable lives. The Middle Ages would have suited people like you down to the ground.

Who do you trust to inform you? Where have you found the information that's enabled you to come to the conclusions that you have such that you're able to establish your position, defend it and attempt to discredit other positions? 8 minutes ago, top4718 said: ... how did the human race survive for the centuries it has prior to radio/tv? People mostly dropped like flies. But we have experts beavering away incrementally, seeking to shed light on complex issues then instigating public health programs out in the field that save lives. Other technical advances over the years have made disseminating the message easier and more effective.

Although he did make one valid point. It is important to take information from a variety of sources. Always assuming that you have the capacity to evaluate the information from an informed perspective.

In that instance I'd seek advice from a expert relevant to whatever the issue was. Edited November 30, 2022 by top4718
