It appears that countries such as China have been more successful with lockdowns, we didn't know how effective a lockdown would be, before we brought it in, as we have never done one before.

It is possible that some aspects of the lockdown was not successful, partly because lockdown was poorly administered and poorly enforced.

I have answered this post in the Covid thread, here.

This is pretty extreme even for the Biased Broadcasting  Corporation (as well as reminding ourselves that today's young really area  snowflake generation) :

Climate change: Don't let doom win, project tells worriers

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-61218933

A new project has been launched to address rising climate anxiety in students at the University of East Anglia.

At the opening in Norwich, students told BBC News they felt hopelessness, anger and despair about climate change.

They worry how they will live in a world with an unpredictable climate and the destruction of nature.

On Thursday a new survey found that 45% of UK students worry about climate change once a week or more.

Literature student Meg Watts, 22, said that she had experienced depression after being overwhelmed by the scale of problems facing the planet. And she sought therapy after developing disordered eating when trying to cut out food packaged with plastic.

I did look to see if this was from the 1st April, but apparently not

What exactly is your problem with that article?   It's reporting a mental health project for students, helping them to cope with stress, anxiety and depression.

Why is that so 'extreme' an example of bias that you might think it was an April Fool's prank?

@Chekhov

This is the BBC reporting on a project at the University of  East Anglia.

No doubt if the University of Sheffield conducted a survey that concluded “We don’t give a toss about climate change “ then that would also be reported.

Once again a confusion about news items and news reporting.

So what you're really saying is you don't understand the article, or how news works? :?

Two options :

1 - There are hardly any students suffering mental health problems worrying about climate change, and therefore it is an example of the Beeb exaggerating a story for its own biased ends.

2 - The world, certainly this country, is in big trouble if our young people are so lacking in resilience. Pathetic.

I wouldn't have thought there are many people who do not give a toss about the possibility of man made climate change. We had a solar panel system installed on our house to do our bit as it seemed a proportionate thing to do because we like international travel (though we haven't really been able to do any for the two years after its installation, which seemed unfortunate to put it mildly).

On the other hand I suspect most people think calling it a "climate emergency" and forcing everyone to get rid of their affordable and flexible petrol cars (even Hybrids) for expensive and inflexible electric cars, plus making gas boilers illegal, is a disproportionate over reaction by a government that has does not really have a mandate for such draconian restrictions on people's lives.

That said, some may indeed not give a toss, but they are entitled to their opinion as it's a free country (not counting the two years from March 2020.......).

I suspect you know that wasn’t the point that I was making.

Just to spell it out the BBC reported on a survey done by the University of East Anglia as it reports in the news many comments ,reports etc. representing a variety of  findings or opinions on a variety of subjects.

Some will jibe with your own opinions and some won’t.

That is what an independent news service provides.
