Elon Musk Buys Twitter.

Recommended Posts

I am no fan of Musk, but at least he's spending his billions on advancing the cause of science on quite a few fronts, rather than watching it accumulate in the bank.

It is a bit worrying however when one man can afford to build rockets to the moon, and mega complex artificial intelligence, when entire countries can't afford it.

It gives him superpowers.

Let's hope he's benevolent, and knows how to use them.

I can't believe we've reach a stage when a vast majority of people are not only happy for but encourage peoples views to be censored, let's hope Musk does what he claims he wanted to do and make Twitter a place where ALL views can be heard, only then can people assess and truly make up their minds.

Unlikely, at least in the US, since Republicans are currently floating legislation specifically to compel platforms and organisations to censor...

...they're not having much luck, fortunately. :?

Given how sensitive Musk is to criticism, do you really think Twitter under his ownership would allow ALL views to be heard?

That's what he claimed he wanted to do, only time will tell, it can't be worse than it is now for censorship surely.

I wonder how long it will be before Trumps back on Twitter

Soon hopefully, Biden's fine with CBeebies.

It's not censorship per se, it's a commercial decision to protect their business and profits (and in the UK, their legal liability)...

...which is why they all do it:

In truth none of them are bastions of free speech, they were never meant to be. They're businesses that sell advertising.

As before, at least in the US, if Republicans were to get their way they wouldn't have a choice, they would have to censor.

That's true but they have also become huge sources of information, unless site rules are being broken content should be allowed, anything else is a very dangerous precedent.

It was repeated breaking of site rules, despite many warnings, that caused Trump to be banned from Twitter.
