Poor Poor Service !

Booked a taxi with City Taxis two weeks before requiring picking up from a wedding. The venue address was confirmed along with the cost of the journey.  On the strength of this two more people booked taxis and were told that's fine there is already a car booked for that address. An hour before pick up time we were asked to pay online which we did. Ten minutes after pick up time we checked and were told City don't have a pre booking system and there were no cars available as the area isn't covered by them. This is nothing but fraud, taking payment for services that they had no intention of providing would involve criminal proceedings anywhere else. Avoid City cars at all costs unless you don't mind disappointment and being ripped off.

I wouldn’t mind hearing City Taxis side of the story.

it seems strange that a huge company like that should make these mistakes,have you contacted there MD or at least someone  from the top,also i thought they covered the whole of sheffield.

I have often said (including on here) that City have not had an actual Pre-booked service for years.
They'll take your booking and then just put it out on the system closer to the time for any driver to pick it up or not.
 

Sad to say, but it is the way of the world.

I’m a bit worried as I have to use City Taxis next Thursday for an appointment at 12pm and will be pre- booking at 11 am. Will they turn up ?

We have used City Taxis and they are a bit hit and miss. Very frustrating when you have to be at your destination for a certain time. The tail wags the dog in this case, as the drivers aren’t really employed by the company. 🙄

 Is there a reason why SF attracts (usually on a weekend) so many 1st post  wonders who's only interest in Sheffield is complaining / belittling or slagging off some Taxi firm, Pizza shop, Bus company ❓

Don't take the booking and the money then !! Simple case of good practice means no complaints. Not difficult really.  1st time post due to 1st time reason to post. Thought that may be an easy thing to work out but obviously not !!
