The source of the claim is Conservative MP Robert Halfon, chair of the education select committee, speaking on Radio 4’s Today program. Padders
I've mentioned this before, Gas prices rose above £400 per whatever, record levels.. Today's gas price is £129 per whatever, Why no reduction in our bills?
Ethella
Because the gas you are using today was bought at the higher price. The gas being bought at today's price will be used by you next year sometime.
El Cid
Perhaps we should be lucky we have the energy cap? My employer told me today that businesses have face a five fold increase in gas prices.

Padders
British Gas are sending me an energy bill every 2 months instead of 3. Anybody else noticed this?

You must be on some form of fix then, once that ends the standard rate for your method of billing is higher than the standard rate for other methods. I can see the logic in them going 2 monthly though, when I was a student I absolutely hated getting them every quarter as it was a lot to swallow in one go. And energy prices are much higher now, imagine how big a quarterly bill over winter would be for some people if they were billed that way.
