Anyway, are you going to make a sensible contribution, or are we all having to suffer some more of your “humorous” interjections ?

Padders
I'm a proud tight wad, someone once "Accused" me of being the tightest person on the planet, which I took as a compliment. So yesterday Myself and my daughter decided to visit Castleton. Many years ago I did a grueling climb up Mam Tor, so I challenged myself to do it again... Up and up a mountain path, then an uphill slog along the ridge to the summit. After a couple of short breaks, I did it. Then back down, over some fields, and down Winnits pass, past the Speedwell Cavern and back into the village of Castleton. This trek took somewhere in the region of 4/5 hours. By this time I was gagging for a cup of coffee, And, because of my achievements I was feeling quite flamboyant. So in a moment of madness, I offered to treat myself and the daughter to a Cream Tea. OK, I appreciate business's have had a rough time , what with the pandemic and inflation, and they need to recoup some losses. So we find a coffee shop, and in I swagger. In my best "Devil may care" attitude, I order two cream teas. £3-60 for a coffee. £6-50 for cream tea. £20-20 in total. My flamboyancy quickly disappeared, and I found myself plunging into a bout of misery. This episode spoilt an enjoyable day out. These people should make their staff wear Dick Turpin style masks, at least we'd be warned. Daylight Robbery. In future I shall make a flask of coffee, 4 scones from ASDA, a tub of Clotted Cream, and my own Jar of Jam. Find a bench, and make my own Cream Tea. Even second hand ones. Edited August 1, 2022 by sibon
