Do you charge people if they come in, but dont buy anything (for whatever reason)? Apparently this is a perfectly normal thing for a shop to do so wondered if it extended to pubs/bars too.

Paying to go in a shop perfectly normal.  I've never paid to go in to a shop.

We have quite few inquisitive people visit our famous bar, most just like to have a nosey at our excellent amenities.

They are of course, potential new customers, so we make them most welcome.

There is no charge whatsoever, and no purchase needed.

Even the toilet facilities are free.

At the moment, management is working on a scheme for the newly formed HHR fan club, whereas members will be offered some sort of discount, or maybe a loyalty card.

Further details will be announced at the next HHR fan club meeting.

Well I have some news for you. Someone on here runs a shop where you have to pay if you aren't buying anything.

Baffling hey?

Ahh, so you're agreeing with me ! They didn't know much about it, it was all guesswork. The latter being more than enough reason to suppress society......

Though in actual fact be mid March they knew most of what they needed to know, i.e. Covid was anything but indiscriminate and the survival rate rate per infection was around 99% :

....

Imagine the history texts of the future:

Will it be  'In 2020 Whitty, Harries and Fauci knew nothing about a killer disease in January but in 10 weeks they knew everything, they were bad people scammed the world out of $trillions, meanwhile in Sheffield, England, a shopkeeper and a football supporter tried in vain to save the planet".

or

Tens of thousands of people around the world were involved over four centuries in the control, treatment, identification, understanding and prevention of pandemics e.g.:

the1740 first British isolation hospitals

1800's Louis Pasteur and Edward Jenner develop first vaccines in Europe

1892 virus science start

Infectious Disease (Notification) Act 1889

Control of a pademics modified in light of science

1900 Ellis Island medically monitors all immigrants

by 1920's hundreds of different viruses and also  virus types identified

1960's corona viruses identified

1968 all specialist isolation hospitals closed in UK as virus transmission better understood

2003 SARS pandemic ends after three months of quarantine, border controls, contact tracing and surveillance.

2016  Exercise Cygnus highlights planning weaknesses

2016 Whitty and others begin research into how vaccines could be developed quickly for novel covid viruses

and so on

I don't suppose there's any chance you'd consider letting me escape this damn cult leave this "fan club" if I was prepared to pay an additional surcharge on my future Sambuca Cocktail drinks bill, is there? :help:

Do you charge everyone for coming into your shop? A rather odd way to operate.

You can usually tell within one minute if we sell what a customer wants, or not, or if they just want advice.

We are talking about Mr HHR wanting to come in and look round taking pictures, he does not want to buy anything therefore he is not a customer, plus see above.

If everything is free anyway, what are the benefits of the loyalty card ?

You are not a customer, you have already said that.
