I think this is a good idea in principle - but they’ve got it wrong big time with the location.

they are talking about it drawing people to fargate - but it’s positioned like a road block at the town hall end - blocking views down fargate also.

it’s not pretty and is front and centre - should have been integrated further down fargate - a bit like when the winter market things turn up,

hope it works out.

Your second and third paragraphs sum it up. IMO, it is badly thought out, and the whole area is now  blighted. Who thought of those garish, oversized and badly positioned 'flowerpots'?

The colourful flowerpots were placed there because a councillor saw a child’s painting of Fargate and was inspired

I don't think it will come as a surprise to many...

And, as an aside, totally failing to notice said flowerpots are garish and impede movement in an already crowded area.

I think you're missing the point, Mr Rolling...

... 'garish and impeding movement' seems to be just the 'look' Fargate is aiming for! :hihi:

the main problem is the block off fargate, people dont go forward as much if they sense the area is blocked off and thats whats happened in this case ,plus the xmas market will be hidden as well, bad unplanned idea, looks like something out of the 1940/50s when there was no cash and the area needed a stop gap until money could be found truly bad idea.

🎄CHRISTMAS ON THE MOOR🎄
This year our Alpine Bar, usually on the top of Fargate, will be moving to The Moor!
It’s so exciting to be able to make this move and we will be beinging a number of cabins and the Big wheel with us!
Don’t worry we will still have lots of cabins on Fargate and around Town Hall Square as well as the Alpine Logde in the Peace gardens.
There’s VERY limited availability for traders to join our market so get in touch asap if you’re interested.
Please email just.jules@ymail.com with some information about your products for an application.
Minimum let is one week.
