Hmmm...

There's nowt to worry abaht!

We've already been informed by one of our 'Forum Experts' that:

So if everyone could just leave off blaming the council now please and turn their attention to blaming the operator as SCC would clearly like us to.

SCC have said it's nowt to do wi them and we should all believe 'em!

Let's just allow everyone to continue doing such an excellent job to the best of their abilities... Thank you! :hihi:

Ah , you’ve noticed how the council say nothing when it’s their fault but are quick to make a statement when it’s someone else’s  😀

Some people on here likely to explode if they are successful.

Or if they get delayed again! 💥💥

To paraphrase a cliched joke, they said they'd be open for the summer, but never specified which summer.

going to blackpool gave me a clue how they came up with this whole idea ,they have copied truck stops that use containers for big breakfasts on the side of remote roads used by the truck lads,so some may be doing all day breakfasts, the whole idea does not work there .blocking the view down fargate, not a good idea

There are pretty successful container park establishments elsewhere in Sheffield (krynkl, SteelYard Kelham), let alone in other cities across the country, all following very much the same model as this one.

It is also very common for christmas markets all across the country to include rickety 'cabins' that act as pop-up bars for the festive periods, many of them blocking otherwise grand views of attractive parts of their city (Manchester & Birmingham city halls spring immediately to mind), but the short-term pain is usually worth the gain; these places do tend to be successful.

It's a joke that these have been delayed so long, and the council rightly deserves stick for that, but don't pretend this idea is a) unique to Sheffield and b) something that hasn't worked very nicely in other places. And it should be said, once they finally open, this will also probably be a success overall for the council and eventual tenants - but that will be little comfort to the original tenants who have suffered.

Personally, I probably wouldn't have put them where they've gone; I'd have maybe thought about putting them up the other end of Fargate, where the footfall is more needed. Ideally, they'd do what Newcastle did recently and put them in a central but disused site, though not many immediately spring to mind in the very centre of Sheffield. Castle Markets, or the place where the new park is being built on Wellington Street maybe.

I bet Labour get voted in again no matter what happens.

The council, who - though sub-contractors are doing the work - are ultimately responsible for the project, is currently No Overall Control, no? And although Labour are officially at the helm, you can hardly claim they're being voted in 'again' if they're not currently voted in as a majority at present?

Most of the MPs round here are Labour but they won't have had anything to do with this.
