If they come from neighbouring properties (who do not want to spend any money) you will never get rid of them.... I've used poison, an air rifle, a mate's useless dog🙄 My electric fences seem to be the only thing that's had success but I'm guessing that won't work in your situation. I still look into other methods to keep rats at bay and one thing that is apparently very good is catnip so I'm growing some and I'm going to try that too.
