Good that you can laugh it up whilst voting for a Tory government that slashed LA funding and left those that depended on LA social care to suffer the consequences. Good that you can laugh it up whilst voting for a Tory government that cared more about its own infighting and its donors than looking after the people of this country who need its help the most.

Anna B
The government shouldn't pile more responsibilities on the councils, starve them of money, then blame them when the councils can't manage. We are now trying out the the committee model of governance in Sheffield, with all the political parties concerned in the decisions, (in theory) which came in in April/May. Let's see if it works and if it results in any improvements. The council website is already improved and is more accessible, so everyone can have their say. Because I'm not exactly sure of how it's going to work. I believe the committees are made up of all parties according to percentage of votes, (I'm assuming a bit like PR.) which I think is a good idea, and hopefully will break the coterie of less than 10 people who make all the decisions on everything. However there are one or two dubious clauses which might be used to screw things up. Our council is famous for infighting and taking their ball home if they don't get their own way, at the expense of the good people of Sheffield. Let's hope they behave themselves and work together for the betterment of the city. Heaven knows we're going to need it. You happy with those?
