Hmmm...

And I'm sure we all hope that you get your trip to the Bahamas, Mr Padders...

Good afternoon Mr. Bloke,

I can now report that a weekend in Cleethorpes is looming.

So myself and the Ratbag Daughter have been to Parkers jewelers in Hillsboro.

By appointment only, so that scuppered plan A.

Then we came across a pawn shop, "WE BUY GOLD"

So I put Plan B. into operation, and in we went,

I'm not completely daft (Yet) and I realize that pawn shops rely on hard up customers who will snatch their hand of at the prospect of mecking a few quid..

The lady in the shop said it was gold and offered us between £85--£180 depending on the carat size.

Then we asked "What about the Diamonds?"

She said they were not interested in the diamonds, just the gold content.

Complicated business this quest.

What next ?

Probably have to get a proper valuation, then go to an auction with a reserve price on it.

Summat I've never done, nearest I've been to an auction is "Flog it" on the tele.

Watch this space.

Padders

Here is a bit of info about Sheffield Auction valuations:

https://www.sheffieldauctiongallery.com/valuations.htm

It seems that they will give you a free estimate. Charles Hanson used to do a similar thing at Abbeydale Picture House every so often, so it might be worth checking his website too.

Good luck with it.

That's great info Sibon, thanks a lot.

Will certainly look into that

I've previously used PA Jewellers at Commonside. They did a brief initial check at no charge, to confirm it was worth having a full valuation doing for insurance purposes, for which there was a charge but it's a while ago and I don't recall the cost.
