The Tory cabinet minister told the Mail that putting such measures in place would be considered as part of the current review that may see a causing death by dangerous cycling law introduced. It’s less than a fortnight since Shapps, who was appointed Secretary of State for Transport by Boris Johnson in July 2019, outlined his plans to the Mail for that legislation – but his position set out in the same newspaper this evening, and said to have the support of Whitehall officials, goes way beyond that........ ads36
Don't believe everything you read in the Mail : it's full of antagonistic lies and nonsense. (he's in the Times, saying that there are *no* plans to make cyclists carry reg' plates) This would cost a fortune, to implement, run, and police. For no tangible benefit. I can't imagine why this in the news, the day after Liz Truss said we're all Lazy and need a bit more graft... crookesey
The police would have no time to do anything else, totally impossible to implement.

I suspect that this will come to nowt, just like lots of things this Gov say they are going to . This Gov seem to think that when they say something, it will magically happen. That is Johnsons and Truss's style. They could lock people up that walk into the road and cause accidents. Unless the green man is flashing. Clickbait for Tory headbangers. Worth looking at the numbers killed by cyclists each year, and the sentencing outcomes of those who kill people with their cars. The sentencing outcomes and the details of the cases are heartbreaking in many instances. I'm not against a death by dangerous cycling law btw, but the same guidelines should apply as per the driving law, where suspended sentences abound.
