Surely someone like Abdi Suleiman should be the one to stand for them . Not seen anything about the other Lady wanting to stand ,so cant comment . Are you concerned about who they are rather than what they stand for? That Izzard is a transwoman rather than the position she might take on various issues of concern to Sheffield Central constituents? From your posts on here I would think your favourite candidate would be whoever has the best chance of being beaten by a Tory. I would imagine that all three Sheff Central candidates might have a, shall we say, non-traditional definition of 'woman', given that the Labour leadership is apparently still fumbling around for a definition too. Perhaps Suleiman or Mohamed will take a position that's more akin to that of Rosie Duffield than Lisa Nandy on, for example. the issue of rapists who now identify as female being allowed to serve their sentences in women's prisons. But again, information is thin on the ground at the moment. I think Suleiman - a former president of Sheffield University SU - might be a Momentum-backed socialist candidate. Mohamed has two decades' worth of experience serving the local community; not sure where on the Labour spectrum she sits. Izzard really, really wants to be an MP, and seems she might take a centrist position. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Still think Izzard will win though. A Tory winning Sheffield central, never going to happen. My point is everyone is talking about Izzard, this thread is about Izzard. What about the other two candidates who have lived , studied and worked in Sheffield most of their lives . No one knows who they are . It seems Labour want to fly in a tv celebrity with very few links to Sheffield to win a very safe seat

This thread was started to be about Izzard alone because she announced her intention so much earlier than other candidates and, presumably, because of the unavoidable novelty of having such a high profile figure as a potential candidate. Plus Izzard and her team were very visible in Sheffield at the time filming for the campaign launch. I don't know what Labour wants. Labour might want one of the other candidates. For that, you need to be heard. There's no doubt Izzard will at least be heard, by making the most of their prestige/ notoriety. They're also a very intelligent, capable, and a shrewd operator, and committed to Labour values. I suspect the other two will make very little difference languishing on the back benches.
