Leaving the note that said she knew she was going to be killed in a car accident said as much, and should have been enough, but they trashed her credibility by claiming she was deranged. She wasn't. crookesey
If the Windsors are so blood thirsty, how did Edward V111 survive following the abdication? Diana opted to use life’s ‘fast lane’, with little thought given to the quality of her personal staff.
hauxwell
The person I believe who was responsible for Diana’s death was the drunk driver Henri Paul driving 70 miles an hour down the Alma tunnel in Paris.

This did nothing to clear up several of the troublesome 'facts.' At the time of the (much delayed) Inquest, I made a point of reading the actual verbatim court reports that they are legally obliged to publish, and was struck by how they differed from what was being reported in the press. This was pretty much the same whitewash. I don't doubt the integrity of the main investigators, but I believe they allowed the secret service to hoodwink them. The investigation went along the lines of: 'We even interviewed Prince Charles... ' 'Sir, did you plan to murder your wife?' 'No' 'Thankyou very much Sir. That's all we wanted to know...' According to the programme, 85% of the population believed Diana had been murdered at the time. I wonder what the figure is now, 25 years later? 99% could not care less. Anna B
This is never going to go away, anymore than Edward Vlll's abdication and marriage to Mrs Simpson has been forgotten. One thing about monarchy; It's what history is actually made of. Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived.

cressida
I remember Henri Paul the driver telling the paparazzi that they'll 'never catch me tonight' which resulted in the car chase, also a car coming towards him with its lights on that dazzled him - either may have caused the crash. Anna B
He abdicated to get what he wanted so wasn't an obstacle. He was still Royal but without power, (although he colluded with the Nazis to regain power if they won the war.) He was sent out of the way the Bahamas. Diana was an obstacle to Charles remarrying, wouldn't go away, and was setting up her own court. She was romancing two Muslim men, and also had got involved in politics with her landmine campaign, (which Sir Nicholas Soames, arch critic of the Princess and friend of Charles, actually manufactured.) She was no longer a Royal at the time, having lost her HRH status and protection officers, so probably considered too much trouble, an easy target, and dispensable.
