Mr Bloke
14 minutes ago, cressida said: Why has she scrapped the rules on Banker' bonuses? Hmmm... Well clearly the top people are being attracted abroad where their talents are still being rewarded. Why shouldn't the best people be rewarded for their efforts? Don't forget that bonuses are just that... ... even though they're being paid maybe hundreds of thousands in bonuses in some cases, they only get bonuses based on the amount of money they earn for the company/country! So unlike in the public sector, where people get paid an amount no matter how incompetent they are, the private sector needs to be able to compete and pay the market value to keep the right people!

rogets
Bit of a joke really As the chancellor left number 11, you could see the downing street cat sat on the window sill Maybe someone could have shifted the cat?
Janet24
People need to rid themselves of the entrenched view that Tories are for toffs and Labour is the party of the working class .Maybe that was the case once, but not any more.Whatever the Chancellor did today, there are some people who will set their faces against it.Dig a little deeper ( ie beneath the headlines which will no doubt emblazon the red-tops tomorrow ), you will see that the aim is to reward those who contribute most. 3

Guest sibon
It will be interesting to see the trickle down. I’ve been hearing about it for most of my adult life, but the trickle seems to be stubbornly up. This is an extraordinary, unfunded, uncosted gamble. There isn’t much in it for ordinary people, except more debt and higher house prices.
