Energy Bills.

Recommended Posts

Everyday I check the price of oil and gas..

Oil prices have dropped dramatically, hence the reduction in petrol prices...

What puzzles me is Gas prices have fallen from a record high of 500 dollars, to todays price of 121 dollars.

No mention of Gas bills coming down though!!!

The suppliers will say we bought gas and oil six months in advance or something similar.

I did hear that prices are coming down in June. I’m not holding my breath tho.

Indeed, I am only paying 21p per unit of electric today, see previous discussions.

Its going up to 24p tomorrow as the wind has died down, sadly.

Todays price of gas stands at 113 dollars...

And yet bills are still going up.

Simple the energy companies buy in advance and they will have bought today’s energy ages ago when the price was higher.

So can we assume that they will buy todays energy prices in advance, and keep price rises at a minimum for the fore seeable future?

yes they will be buying energy at todays prices for future use but if the wholesale  price continues to fall then there will those wondering why their bill has not fallen further where as if the price increases they will probably keep quiet

Cheers Al,

Thanks for your replies.

I know where your coming from..

Still baffles me that when Russia invaded Ukraine, the price of gas shot up to 500 dollars a (is it a therm) and our bills immediately went up by double/treble.

Now gas is $113 but the bills are very slow to decrease..

Exactly the same with petrol, it's just profiteering, no wonder their making billions.
