crookesey
Prior to the current energy price bonanza we used to look for a company with a deal that suited, these days we look for the least greedy in a plethora of money grabbers, that’s capitalism I suppose. XPertByExperien
True. Several years ago we were with British Gas for the Lecky and Gas, and the Housing were paying all the bills, in theory, they never used to pay ON TIME, and one day, we got a rather strongly worded letter from BG saying they were bringing enforcement Officers to take goods to the value of what was owed! Dad went barmy and threatened to report them to the Star and Watchdog on the telly! Now all the tenants pay our own bills, everyone's with E-On. Its 47.9p per day for electric on this, which is the going rate for almost everyone anyway. Who sets gas and electricity standing charges? Your energy supplier sets the level of gas and electricity standing charges that you have to pay, but Ofgem (and now the government) limits how much suppliers can charge. Ofgem ruled that energy tariffs no longer need include a standing charge following recommendations by the Competition and Markets Authority back in 2016. However, the vast majority of energy suppliers continue to add them as part of the overall energy cost.

Padders
Price of gas (and oil) has been falling daily for the last 2/3 months.. Now stands at $95 from a high of $500 ? If it carries on like this they'll be giving it away soon... But still our bills continue to rise? Edited March 20, 2023 by Padders
