How Bad An Area Is Kendray, Barnsley?

Considering buying a house in Kendray, in an estate off Doncaster Rd. I know, from house prices that it's not the best area, but how bad is it? Is it better than it used to be, or is it worse? I get the impression it might be trying to improve.

 

I'm a first time buyer, female, going to be living on my own. But I'm not prone to nightly strolls, or have a flashy car (or any car) 😂, so just want to get people's opinions on how safe it would be realistically do people think x

 

Any guidance would be helpful, as I'm not from the area at all x

 Depends on what your budget is, and reason for buying in that area , work, etc

I’d never buy another house round kendray unless it was super cheap

Need a place to commute to Sheffield from that's affordable. I can see it's a bit run down and not the best area, so I basically want to know how dangerous it is and if anyone has had any experience living there. I have to admit I'm put off from comments people have made.
