Police And Hate Crime

Lets try some:

I think that Christianity's beliefs are crackpot and can't understand why anyone can believe such nonsense

I think that Islam's beliefs are crackpot and can't understand why anyone can believe such nonsense

I think Gammonism's beliefs are crackpot, and can't understand why anyone can believe such nonsense

Your opinion, and you're entitled to it - others may, or may not, agree.

Which crimes do the police consider hate crimes,  we should know what we can be arrested for,   for instance,  can people be arrested or even cautioned for what they say in their own house?

Exactly.

Hate crime is whatever the Police say it is.

It's the worst drafted law in the history of the police. It isn't properly defined, so the police have to use their judgement, and they get it wrong as often as they get it right. We also have a right to freedom of speech enshrined in law in this country, and this contradicts that right.

Sure, it may have to go to court eventually but that could take months and then the judge is also at the mercy of his own and other people's prejudices. And we all know your average bloke can no longer afford proper legal representation, never mind months of worry.

And anyone can fall foul of it, which puts us all at risk. Say the wrong thing and anyone can get that early morning hammering at the door. Didn't Germany's fascism start in a similar way?

Alongside our other freedoms that are being whittled away, like the right to strike etc, does anyone still not think we are moving inexorably towards fascism.

Why don’t we use this thread as a safe space and say some of the unsay-able things we’re all thinking.

Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan are hugely overrated.

Conceptual art is mostly pants.

Being friendly and compassionate pays back in spades.

Drugs should be legal.

Self hatred is directed outwards.

SF is ridden with faux gammon outrage.

I remember years ago there was a dreadful case of a disabled woman and her mother who were the victim of disablist hate crime.

Fiona Pilkington

If people think that being the victim of hate crime is just about hurt feelings, have a read of the account
