As an aside, before the HIV/AIDS epidemic gloves weren’t compulsory for medical staff. 
Earlier than that people used to smoke in hospitals.

Things evolve, Its now deemed necessary to wear masks to protect our vulnerable patient’s so quite frankly if you’re not willing to do so you’re in the wrong job.
