IOPC investigators said they interviewed him under criminal caution and he admitted having had a sexual relationship with the woman, which started before he joined the West Yorkshire force in 2017. It began when he attended a domestic incident and the woman reported being a victim of crime. An IOPC spokesman said: "We found evidence he abused his position as a police officer to form an inappropriate relationship with a woman he knew to be vulnerable and made efforts to keep their relationship a secret." cressida
Vulnerability does seem to attract abusers, sad that it happens but when it comes to light the public can lose confidence, at least he was found out and the IOPC did the right thing. The article don't state whether the woman complained about the officer or if it was just the principle of breaking the rules. It could have been a mutually beneficial relationship, we don't know. The rules I believe are don't mix business with pleasure, the police do get complaints about officer misbehaviour, some female prison officers believe they are the ones to change a criminal's behaviour, and if women (or sometimes men) are holed up for long enough they can become susceptible to advances from the opposite sex. imo

Some people do take advantage of others, if only we had better reporting we would know if that is what happened.
