RollingJ
There's supposed to be a housing shortage. If the currently used buildings can be repurposed - cheaper than building from scratch - what is the problem?

Because it'll probably be student accommodation or 'exclusive' property in the heart of the city centre i.e. expensive to buy!

It's either going to be student accommodation or expensive apartments. Realistically, it's not going to be affordable social housing, is it? Whatever it is, logically it releases other properties, as we are not going to get a sudden massive influx of people from elsewhere. If it is, say, student accommodation, it should release properties in other area which are more suitable as family homes.

Jim Hardie
There was a right of way from the Moor to London Road underneath this building that was gated off as soon as it was opened citing security concerns. It ought to be reinstated if and when it is developed as housing.

As I said - if it is student accommodation, it could release properties more suitable for family use. This obsession with 'affordable housing' is a distraction.
