crookesey
If the attack had been violent and happened in the kitchen within reach of a kitchen knife I would say that it was very harsh. However is he slept with say, a machete under his pillow, he could have had an intent to cause harm to anyone who invaded his space,
Annie Bynnol
The Irish Judge suggested that the unarmed drunken man was under the impression that someone in the house he broke into, had damaged his car. To gain attention he smashed the window to get attention. The Judge considered that the defendant had not necessarily acted in purely self defence as there was an issue with where the knife was. The young man had previously been found not-guilty twice for the murder, was seventeen at the time and had been on 'remand' for six months and was given a 'lenient' sentence of another three years in jail. Paul P
It's better than being sentenced for murder.
ukdobby
The judge said the force he used was too much as the intruder was unharmed,so you have to ask the burglar if he's armed before you tackle him!Crazy

If we are being accurate Yeah, from that article the rationale doesn't add up, am not at all surprised that the jury didn't swallow it.
