Illegal? Of course it isnt. Out of favour, maybe.

In exactly the same way nobody used the phrase "half cast" anymore, well maybe someones 90 year old gran still does.

My friend put a post on fb using that phrase and she had a load of abusive replies, one saying that the words “ coloured person” was now illegal.”  They eventually took her post off, so that is the reason I asked.

The only reason she used it was to warn people that “ a coloured “ salesman who said he was from  BT was going round knocking on doors in our area. As we have had a high level of burglaries for the last few years , she wanted to warn people. She thought by using the word “ coloured “ it would distinguish him from other salesmen. She was even asked f she would have used the word “ white” . She would have done. Anyway it turned out he was legitimate.

Thought you wouldn’t be long !!!

You've lost me there Pattricia'

The Coloured gentleman 'turned out to be 'Legitimate'  has me stumped

I thought my Geographical knowledge was pretty good but I can't find the place in my Atlas 🤣

The problem is no matter what term you use, someone is going to (probably pretend to) get offended because you have actually used the term in the first place.

"Waaah waaah waaah would you have mentioned it if they were white?"

Halibut used to enjoy doing similar on here.
