However, although I await your reply with interest, I will not be responding - a waste of time with people such as you. The points you are making? What points exactly? All you appear to be doing is raising questions as to the background of the publications linked to. That's irrelevant, what matters is what they are saying true or false? If it's true it doesn't matter who said it does it? If it's false explain why and show what the actual facts are. You are referring to the authors of the reports because you can't refute the statements. The fact that you have resorted to the " people such as you " and " I will not be responding " leads me to suspect that you have no idea as to what you're on about, have finally realised it and want to terminate the debate but have the last word. It’s one of my favourite hymns. At the moment we could do with a little bit of hope. And as Anna says use the old one when the King is in attendance, What about I Vow to Thee, My Country. Another two hymns I love. Every time I hear, I Vow To Thee My Country, it makes me think of all the British soldiers in WW1, WW2 and more recent conflicts who lost their lives. I get quite emotional listening to that particular hymn.
cressida
It is very poignant, I just think of all those young men sent to fight other young men😒 Jerusalem is more rousing as a tune. Edited December 12, 2022 by cressida

Yes Jerusalem probably is more rousing. If the women’s institute can make it there national anthem then it’s good enough to be our national anthem. An old neighbour use to go to the WI in Grenoside Sheffield where I use to live and she said at the start of every meeting they would stand and sing Jerusalem, so I just took it for granted that’s what they all do through out the country. I’m sure our late Queen was a member of the WI.
