National Anthem

Isn't there another institution like the W.I. or am I thinking of the Mother's Union?

I actually think most national anthems are pretty boring, musically. 

 

I think the only one I actually like the tune is the German one.

Must admit I like the Marseillaise anthem.

I think this was first time I heard the German one in a film. 

 

I think it has harmonies and build up. I like the end part with the harmonies with the high notes (45 seconds). This is one of best examples, I've heard from Escape to victory.

Are there still undividual National Anthems recognized by the EU?

 

Most "Unions" of States have just one!

We were, but are not now, so not relevant. In any case, AFAIK, individual EU countries still have and use their own anthems - seen any World Cup matches recently, for instance?

 

There is an 'EU' anthem, which actually sounds musically OK to me, but I would never stand for - didn't when we were in.

Wouldn't hurt to learn it, just in case! 

 

I just looked up the National Anthem where I live:

 

Some notable versus:

They like their personal freedoms here, and the politicians have to be careful not to infringe the traditional rights of the happy majority, by catering to a noisy minority of malcontents.

 

Democracy!
