is it? i didnt know that, it is rich fatty and full of calories i suppose thats the reason? bloomin lovely though on warm french bread and salted butter!.....damn need to go buy some now

Try lightly toasted brioche, and a high contrast agent, either some sort of chutney (sweet-ish, non or not too acidic, a very small drop/not a spread) or 2-3 grains of rock salt.

With a sweet (‘dessert’) wine. Monbazillac, Loupiac, Tokay, etc. cheaper than Sauternes and arguably nicer.

That sweet red (😳) Greek wine, that can seemingly only be found on Brit supermarket shelves (Tesco, used to be), is a nice alternative.

Just done some shopping and bought a smoked gammon joint from Sainsbury on a half price special offer, £6 for a 2.3k joint so it looks like that's it!:)

If you eat all that, it quite likely will be “it” for you😁

Oh aye, woe betide the notion that people of any condition enjoy exceptionally good fare a few times in every 365 days…

…Pah! They should know their place and keep to Victorian diets and pursuits, with none of that mucky furrin foodstuff, like all good cap-doffing working class reactionaries 🧐

Don't over react to a little satire, Loob!  :)

Christmas is traditionally the time to indulge a little, and give.

Hope they don't shut it down again.

Here, I'll be up in the hills with extended family, a wood fire outside holding an old grill, chicken, pork, rice and beans, vegetables I don't recognize, all locally grown. I can brag the chicken is "free range", but that just means they wander around the village scratching for whatever they can find! Seem to be community property, if you can catch one!

For me it's heaven!

A Merry Christmas to all!
