With a sweet (‘dessert’) wine. Monbazillac, Loupiac, Tokay, etc. cheaper than Sauternes and arguably nicer. That sweet red (😳) Greek wine, that can seemingly only be found on Brit supermarket shelves (Tesco, used to be), is a nice alternative. Christmas is traditionally the time to indulge a little, and give. Hope they don't shut it down again. Here, I'll be up in the hills with extended family, a wood fire outside holding an old grill, chicken, pork, rice and beans, vegetables I don't recognize, all locally grown. I can brag the chicken is "free range", but that just means they wander around the village scratching for whatever they can find! Seem to be community property, if you can catch one!
