Therefore at no time did central Govt mandate that Sheffield MUST have a CAZ with daily charging, it was entirely the decision of SCC's Executive Committee at that time.   Central Govt's only involvement was to offer funds to help set the CAZ up.

The government set the parameters by giving them a choice of several different options of type of CAZ.

The councils had to work up a very extensive business case ( paid for by the government), with modelling, to show that the choice they made was going to work and produce compliance with legal standards.

Different councils have selected different types of CAZ that they think will work in their area and some have made a case for delaying the imposition of a CAZ.

And we in Sheffield should also delay this nonsense or better still cancel it altogether.

You could get a posse together and light bonfires inside the inner ring road. Just to ensure that the air quality remains poor.

Or, I guess that you could take responsibility for your own actions and pollute a little less.

The council will NEVER delay anything that puts money in their pocket so they can pursue their own vanity projects.

They have lied about so many projects (e.g. the PPZ) that they dare not go back on anything they have implemented as it would spotlight the (alleged) corruption in the SCC and the lies that they have backed.

The rationale behind the CAZ is based on fallacious data, but because it benefits the SCC purse they are happy to continue with it. Mark my words, in a few years it will include private cars... and then the rat runs of Dore will be chock-a-block with white vans, lorries and family cars
