harvey19
A long time ago now 1960/61 when I was a Royal marine cadet at Loxley House. There were marine, sea and gntc there. We met one night a week and Sunday morning. The sea cadet band used to play in the area . I recall wearing the ammo boots, blue uniform with the dog collar and peaked cap. DeWasteney
I remember Loxley House because my first serious girlfriend lived with her parents in the Lodge at the end of the driveway - that would be mid-1958 to late 1962 Unfortunately, like her parents, she is now deceased along with her husband On the other side of Ben Lane just a bit higher up than the driveway entrance there was a family with a daughter who lived in one of the semi-detached houses. Her mother was the sister of Reginald Dixon, who was the well-known organ player at Blackpool. When he visited, he was in his Rolls Royce. I think the girl may have been called Julia Mmm your post takes me back over 60 years Regards - Victor M Hutchinson - Malaysia

DeWasteney
Whiteleys had lived at the lodge for many years so no idea who Susan would be. I think the lodge would have been sold after Christine's parents died - Percy and Kit Whiteley I know Christine married a lad she knew from the local church, named John Grantham and they bought a house in the village. I think he worked for an insurance company. I spoke to them on the phone briefly many years ago, maybe about 16 or 17 years ago before I left the UK for Malaysia. I moved to Driffield in East Yorkshire in 1968 and lost contact with people I knew in the Sheffield area I think Christine died, maybe, 6 or 7 years ago and John about 2 years later Regards - Victor M H - Malaysia
