I was unfortunate to be caught out and caned by Mr Wadge.

 

In his room he had a 'Stick Wall Cabinet' where there was a selection of caning sticks, some thick, some thin, some cane, some solid wood and one wrapped in black tape.

 

He opened the cabinet and chose his weapon of choice and then gave me six of his best.

 

G-d only knows how he chose the appropriate stick.

 

During the rest of the day I couldn't sit down and I was bruised quite badly.

 

I thought I deserved some punishment but on this accasion the punishment was far too severe, bordering on sadism.

 

I still enjoyed my time at the Tech. though but I never forgot that incident.

Are there any class photos from 46-49. I was in the A class for the time I was there, leaving in the summer of 49. I don't recall that the head master was such a tarter as described in previous threads.

I remember the 'Yoyo fiasco!' I almost got the same for swearing at lad for stealing my donut at the Gleadless Tuck shop. Fortunately, another boy was chosen!

I have just come across a picture of the teachers at Central Tech taken in 1962. If anyone would like a copy let me know and I'll scan it and email it. I can only identify a few. Herbert is there along with Pop Gregory. If anyone can post it somewhere that would be great.

I dont want to be reminded of "The Tech". Went there from 58 to 61, the worst three years of my life. Will go to my grave cursing Wadge, what an animal.
