Basically, the council bring in these 20mph zones to shut the local residents up, and that then passes the buck. Its clever, really.

Passes the buck then collects the bucks according to some on here.....

The technology to measure 20mph is not currently available but will be soon. We are having to suffer lower speed limits because of the filth that cause accidents by speeding or by parking badly. If you want to still drive at 30mph on urban streets then stick to the speed LIMIT and don't park dangerously.

The police are having problems policing themselves. I know of some bent cops that should have been sacked but given a "reflective" program instead. Not convinced it works.

Wasn't there laws Sheffield Council made ( 1950s- 60s) that fish could not be sold-either from a fishmonger or fish and chip shop on a Sunday ?  So they did't open but Chinese take aways got around it . Another was  cars could not be washed on a public highway on the Sabbath. of course the police do not make the laws, just to enforce them. Don't know about the 'Fish' rule but wonder if the 'Car wash was ever enforced ?

thats the problem people like the councillors or goverment say yeah we will go along with this or that idea then the police cannot or will not enforce the rules

Couldn't you say that about every law? I don't know any law with 100% prosecutions

Bacon could not be sold on Sundays either.  Weird.
