The_DADDY
To help fight man made climate change.. The UK’s transport network must become more energy efficient to reduce reliance on oil imports and achieve climate goals, a new report from Parliament’s Environmental Audit Committee has said. The paper recommends that the Department for Transport consults with industry on measure – such as those listed in the International Energy Agency (IEA)’s ten-point plan – to conserve energy and cut emissions. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/consumer/new-64mph-limit-and-sunday-drives-ban-could-cut-emissions Would you support this? rudds1
Be nice to be able to do a consistent speed on motorways instead of the signs showing all diffrent speeds every few hundred feet and signs saying fog / obstruction etc
HeHasRisen
They already do this in Oxford, obviously. They also beam pro-council adverts into peoples brains via their V-Chip, and at 6pm every day everyone has to go outside and sing the Council Anthem. Katie Hopkins said all this on some video somewhere. Edited January 9, 2023 by HeHasRisen 1
geared
"Drive at X-mph to reduce emissions" I've got a Tesla, can I do just have at it?
dsweetman
The 40 mph limit for hgv in scotland causes congestion, impatience which leads to dangerous overtaking manouvres and drivers falling asleep! So should we go back to the days of horsedrawn vehicles and a man with a red flag walking in front of any motor vehicle! Kidorry
What is the point because most people do not take any notice of speed limits.

I've never had a speeding fine. I've never gone even 1mph over the limit That's because I'm a responsible driver..👍

No. It would cost thousands of jobs in places like Bakewell and Castleton that make £££'s on Sundays. It is a favourite day for familys to get together. It would kill off sport on Sunday in cities. Favoured day for shopping for a lot of people. Sure other folk can think of plenty more. The paper is only for discussion. Any political party adopting no car Sundays would be commiting political suicide. 70 mph works fine the majority of time on UK motorways (always providing you can get up to that speed) - 80 mph over here in France away from cities when you can often have 200 yards of road or more to yourself.
