A Friend In Need?

Recommended Posts

If your friend wants nothing to do with you and your partner, I’m not sure that she or he was  a true friend.  I certainly wouldn’t want to lose someone who had been kind to me and helped me get through a difficult period in my life all because they wanted to go on holiday without me.

It wasn’t  a healthy situation doing everything with your friend and I’m sure it must have put a strain on your relationship.  You have actually helped your friend to move on with their life, it’s just sad how it’s ended and in time your friend might realise that.

Wouldn't it have worked out if you had let your wife help your friend?

We BOTH helped the 'friend' in numerous ways over several years.  We tried ignoring the selfishness and peevishness, but it all got too much and came to a head.  Thankfully, it is now a closed book, filed and hopefully, eventually forgotten!

If you allowed them to take advantage of your friendship for years, and it became a dependency.

To me, that's like adopting a pet, or a child.

An abrupt end can be devastating, coming out of the blue, if not gradually done over time with honesty and firmness,

They may need another home.

But now the best advice is to move on!
