@Anna B
These pitchforks- the price of them must have really shot up. I've not seen em anywhere.:shakes:

Surely Tesco themselves will have seen their own costs rise, especially distribution and utilities.

Some companies are genuinely increasing prices because simply due to rising costs, especially energy.

Sainsbury! The Harrods of sheffield,  NOT.   They have been extracting the urine for years.   :gag:

All very expensive though and you can also get it cheaper. Bought this yesterday to make some lasagne sauce and it was only £4.79 a kilo, perfectly fine and tastes good.

So God knows what Waitrose are charging !!!

Just for you....:)

Extra mature cheddar, £5.50 750g, works out at around £7.30 a kilo.

The problem with all this comparison malarkey is that you have to compare like for like though.

it was a speciality cheese, wensleydale and cranberry 200g pack. I was trying to compare supermarkets selling seemingly identical products, rather than find the cheapest available cheese

some of those really cheap cheddars are a bit naff, rubbery, bland, don't melt well

Yeah, a bit like wensleydale and cranberry.... :hihi:

Really, the one I bought is very good despite it being cheap.

Yes, of course, and depends on the quality of the product.
